Mr. Brett, practices as trial counsel in the Firm’s Litigation Department. He has litigated many cases in the Civil and Supreme Courts, including complicated rent regulation disputes, landlord-tenant matters, contract litigation, commercial litigation, zoning and adjoining property owner disputes. He also advises and represents clients in cooperative and condominium disputes.

In addition to litigation, Mr. Brett regularly advises clients on all aspects of New York’s complex rent regulatory scheme.

Mr. Brett has lectured at seminars and continuing legal education classes for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Rent Stabilization Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, CHIP, the Cato Institute in Washington DC and World Wide Land Transfer on issues such as rent regulation, affordable housing, luxury deregulation, rental overcharges, regulatory due diligence, AirBnB/transient occupancies, mold litigation and digital evidence.

Mr. Brett is a former Owner’s Representative on the Advisory Council of the Housing Part of the New York City Civil Court, a former member of the Housing and Urban Development, Housing Court and Judiciary Committees of the New York City Bar Association.
